Blown away by this band's bit...how did I not hear about these guys until now? From what
I've heard of their other record, this might even be a step down, but it's nonetheless amazing. A great example of how
asskicking rock n roll and literate lyrics don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Great bar rock with a degree in literature and a finger on the pulse of pop culture. Nancy Reagan would not be a fan of this band. They make drugs (and even OD'ing) sound fun. - Trailer - (8) Still loving the rock and the encyclopedia of the Twin Cities. - Milesfrom - (7) Just a great rock and roll record. Touches of early E Street Springsteen, twin guitars that evoke Thin Lizzy and melodies that stick in your head. - Erschen - (6) Best rock n' roll record of the year. - Tracer - (5) |

| Rock and Roll saviors? No so. Savory Rock and Roll? Hell yes! Will see how it stands up to time. - Track 11 - (1) | |||||||||||

Although this album is partly a collection of unreleased songs...you'd never notice considering the organization...and flow of this album. The songs are instant classics....and sound almost like American standards that we all know and love...the moment that they hit the ears. Three discs of material is a lot to take in....but it moves along at a great pace. Every song is memorable on its own. A perfect display of American music.

Normally Waits would always top my year end list, but with Orphans, there is a lot, and a lot is good, but not great. There are some real pearls in there, but it doesn't have the flow and consistency of his actual albums. Still amazing though, it IS Waits!! - Fatelvis - (9) Wow. Didn't even know I liked Tom Waits! - Denim - (9)

| Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards. Tom Waits has given his fans a rare treat. A three-disc collection containing out-takes and rarities which are just as good as the new material. From rough scrap-yard anthems to warm whiskey-soaked ballads, Waits delivers the entire spectrum in spades. His best collection in many years. - Acuff-Rose - (8) | |||||||||||
