Great live set from the boys from Kentucky

Nobody would ever describe Mark Linkous as prolific, but everything he's done is great. This album is no exception. - Melt -
(7) Great pop. - Milesfrom - (6) Sparklehorse returns. - Tracer - (6) This may be Mark Linkouse's strongest set of songs ever. - DADDY - (4) My first Sparklehorse record and it only makes me want to hear more. Love the subtle electronic/hip-hop production Danger Mouse brings. Almost feel like this is the album the Flaming Lips should've come out with this year. - Beldo - (3) |

This latecomer has risen quickly up my chart. Don’t think it could overtake YLT but it could make #2 with a little more time. "The Crane Wife" sings. - Track 11 - (8) I got into the Decemberists in a big way this year. The Crane Wife isn’t my favorite of theirs, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good. Actually it isn’t—it’s fantastic. Songs that tell weird stories…some may say they’re a bit pretentious, but that’s alright by me. I’d rather listen to a band that tries too hard than one that doesn’t try at all. - Shy Girl - (7) Will they ever put out a crappy album? - My Life Is Sought - (6) As good as ever. - FriendOf - (4) Surprise album of the year for me. Meloy can write great tunes! - Milesfrom - (4) |

| Brainy folk pop rich with story-telling and vivid imagery. The vocals take some getting used to, and admittedly sound a bit contrived, but the songs are so damn catchy I don't care. "Yankee Bayonette" is just gorgeous. The Crane Wife is another example of "everything I should hate" but I love it. - Trailer - (3) | |||||||||||
