A sad , yet sweet look into a man's mind missing a brother that meant so much! - TANEYTOWN - (9)

This was a late entry into my top 10. Babybird may be one of his best songs, ever. I had to get used to the production, but the songs are just so strong. - Erschen - (5)

Last minute release, last minute addition. A couple more listens and this album could have rated even higher. Some of the finest songwriting I've heard from someone that is known for writing fine songs. - Nortwoods - (5)

Yum. - Steve Stringer - (8)

Chan Marshall does country soul and still comes out smelling of roses! It might have been an ill-conceived 'Dusty In Memphis' pastiche but Chan's smokey tones are perfect for this sort of thing. Could have done without the Fiddy Cent style album cover though. Its either that or just some Cluedo pieces on a pink background. Shite. - Bird Brain - (7)

Well it wasn't the greatest but I kept going back to it so it must have at least been very good!                                      - Under The Milky Way - (2)

Great songs from an amazing voice. - FriendOf - (1)

28   Damien Jurado   And Now That I'm In Your Shadow 39 6
This is a very daring piece of work. Some would consider a risky album as something that would be extremely unconventional...possibly with alternative sorts of songwriting or unique mixing and effects. Jurado proves that it can be the exact opposite. One of the hardest ways to hold someones attention...and attract the listener...is to make a stripped down...intimate...no-frills sort of album. Damien and friends have done just that...with what I consider to be one of the most delicate albums ever. It would be very easy to compare this album to Richmond Fontaine's "The Fitzgerald"....and it may succeed for a lot of the same reasons. - JesseAaron - (8)

This album keeps falling lower on my list and I'm not sure why. Some really good songs but some weak ones too. Still deserving of the 9 spot. Good to hear Damien back to a stripped down sound. - Travel By Sea - (2)
