A couple more kick ass songs would have made this my number one.

Jason Molina's fourth album in two years and no let up in the quality either. It occupies the familiar Molina landscape of moons, the light, valleys and ghosts but that with that heartbreaker voice over the top long may he continue to sing the long dark blues. - Bird Brain - (6) Jason Molina’s music always takes me a while to get into. When you do finally “get it” it’s well worth getting. What a great artist. His level of output in extraordinary and like Will Johnson he is VERY underrated. I actually find his music the most depressing music by any artists I have ever listened to. As most of my music is pretty depressing, that makes his stuff real “slit your wrist” type music. Luckily I like slit your wrist music. - Warren1 - (4) I'm starting to get into Jason Molina's "thing" and probably liked this more than What Comes After The Blues. Now for the back-catalogue. - Under The Milky Way - (4) |

The sound of summer 2006 for me, although this album is closer to the sound of somewhere round about 1992 when the
U.S. was producing some wonderful melodic guitar albums from the likes of Dinosaur Jr., Lemonheads, Buffalo
Tom and Superchunk. Its no retro exercise though, this band has been going since about 1760 anyway and here they balance epic guitar work and lilting melody with the best of 'em.
- Bird Brain - (10)
The first of six new artists to me to make my top ten. An ACT recommendation that always kept me wanting more. I found this to be the strongest album all the way through for the year. - Under The Milky Way - (10) Love the tight guitar licks. "Liar" is one of the best songs I've heard in years. - Milesfrom - (10) This album is Neil Young on meth. - Matt Mett - (9)

| Doug Martsch and company return to form with this excellent effort. Thoughtful pop songs mixed with ambitious jams. The kind of things that made me fall in love with the band in the first place. - Track 11 - (3) | |||||||||||
| I am a new comer to this band but they are nothing short of amazing. This isn't their best album, but like I said, they rarely disappoint. - Wilcoduck - (1) | |||||||||||
