Just the perfect country album, nothing more to be said.
- Fat Elvis - (8) This is one of two great female vocalists in my top ten. The cover of The Traveling Wilbury’s “Handle with Care” is worth the price alone. - Erschen - (7) Refreshing and Deep. - Denim - (7) Nice stuff. - Steve Stringer - (4) The token chick on my top ten. A good album with just the right amount of sort of old-fashioned country twang to it. - Shy Girl - (2)

| There was only room for one red-headed singer on my list this year it was between her and Neko Case. So I drew straws. - Blaise - (1) | |||||||||||
| Though somewhat flawed, there are some great tunes on here delivered by one of the most adorable singers to play a G chord in a long while. - DADDY - (1) | |||||||||||

Will Oldham is a rare treasure indeed. From his 2003 masterpiece Master and Everyone to his 2005 collaboration with Matt Sweeny to his latest creation, Will's song-writing keeps getting better and more complex. It's a shame that Bob Dylan can keep releasing mediocre albums and receiving mass acclaim when Will Oldham, one of our greatest and creative songwriters is virtually ignored. - Acuff-Rose -

Superb follow-up to Trouble. This is more mainstream in its production and approach but actually less commercial. Ray visits some dark places but there is beauty in the harrowing tales. The voice is awesome, whether he bawls or whispers. Proof that he is a considerable talent. - Loon Rider - (7) This “new-to-me” artist swept me away on the first listen. “Can I Stay” melts my heart each time I hear it. “Barfly”, although not quite a heart-melter, is another song I can’t imagine my life without. - Late Night Conversation - (7) What can I say about Ray? I hate him. After hearing Steven Stills song, ‘Treetop Flyer’, Ray quit his job at a Maine shoe factory to become a musician. His songs are intuitive, dark and tender. His voice, an old boot heel worn comfortable. - Track 11 - (6) The one album that surprised me by how much I really like it and spend time listening. "Three More Days" gets my vote for best produced, best engineered, best performed, and outstanding performance of the year. - Peter D - (3) |

| A really warm album...minus anything like the killer first three songs of Trouble but a rewarding listen all the same. - Under The Milky Way - (3) | |||||||||||
